Mouth & Lip Ritual

(4 Minute Video)

It’s recommended to view the video on full screen (horizontal) and then follow along at home.

Beginning at the back of the neck, wrap the U-edge of the tool across the spine and apply long strokes up to the base of the skull. Then come up the back of the neck right next to the spine, releasing tension with firm strokes. Use the long edge of the tool to sweep up the trapezius muscle, up to the back of the ear. Then use the U-edge to stretch up the sternocleidomastoid from the collarbone to the ear, easing up on the pressure here.

Anchor at the collarbone and sweep up the platysma muscle, ending the stroke at the corner of the mouth. Use your supporting hand to add resistance and give this muscle a gentle stretch.

Then use the flat edge of the tool to sweep out under the mouth in short firm strokes, angling upwards. Then sweep out the upper lip to drain excess fluid and stretch out the tissue here. Use the comb edge of the tool to apply short upward strokes along the chin, up to the corner of the mouth.

And then use back and forth movements along the edges of the lips like using a pencil eraser - to stimulate the area, plump the lips, and break up lines and wrinkles. Then stretch out the lips with your tool, anchoring firmly with your other hand.

Using the comb edge, stretch the tissue up from the chin to the corner of the mouth, really lifting the tissue here. And continue lifting upwards on the nasolabial fold. Then stretch the tissue out from the upper lip, outwards into the cheek area to release fascia and firm the tissue. And finally smooth everything out and down to the collarbone.

Repeat on the other side. Coming up the back of your neck with firm pressure and working into the base of the skull to release tension. Then working in long strokes up the trapezius muscle, up to the back of the ear… and using the u-edge of the tool to give the sternocleidomastoid a nice stretch, up from the collarbone to the ear.

Anchoring the skin at the collarbone, use long strokes up to the corner of the mouth with the long edge of the tool to stretch out the platysma muscle. This muscle can become short and tight as we age, pulling the face down.

Then use the flat edge of the tool to sweep out and up, under the mouth - and then drain down from the upper lip, stretching out the tissue here. Using the comb edge to apply short upward strokes on the chin up to the mouth. And then working around the edge of the lips, using the comb edge like a pencil eraser to plump the lips and break up pattern in the tissue. Then wrap the U-edge around your lips to stretch outwards, supporting the skin with your other hand.

Comb the skin under the mouth upwards to stretch and lift the tissue, and then comb out the nasolabial folds to soften these lines, before draining and gently stretching the tissue out. And then smoothing everything out and draining down to the collarbone.
